I Help Those In Need

I consider myself very fortunate to have such a joyous life. My children are healthy, my marriage is strong, and my health is great.

I appreciate all that I have and I realize that not everyone has been dealt such a fruitful hand.

In my free time, I volunteer to community organizations to help those in need.

For example, if the local middle school needs to raise money to restart their afterschool program, I am the first one to lend a hand. I organize a bake sale, market the event, and bring over my best batch of homemade baked goods.

If the necessary funds have been raised, great! If not, I either donate money from my own pocket or organize another fundraiser.

My local soup kitchen knows me by name. I volunteer my time throughout the year and have even made friends with some of the regulars.

I help those in need because it makes me feel as if my effort makes a difference. I am certain that if my entire community bands together for a cause, we can move mountains. So I do my part to help.

I am a person who makes mistakes, just like everyone else. I help others because it is the right thing to do.

I make a conscious effort to help the helpless because I know I would hope that others lend a hand if I was in the same predicament.

Today, I reach out to the less fortunate and make a difference. Whether it is as small an effort as being a mentor to a local teen, or as large as founding an organization for the homeless, I know that my time can make a difference!

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. Which local organizations are most in need of my time?
  2. How can I utilize my career-related knowledge to help others?
  3. How can I instill the importance of volunteerism in my children?

Take your answers and turn them into positive, resolute statements that give you concrete goals on which to focus immediately. Be honest, work hard, and watch yourself transform for the better!
