My Disability Is Only Part of Who I Am

Yes, I have a disability. However, it is only one part of my life.

I firmly believe that only the strongest of the strong are given challenges such as the ones I face. My life would certainly be easier without such a demanding health matter. However, I manage to nurture my health every day and still maintain a normal life.

I experience days that my health gets the best of me. On those days, I choose to take it easy and give my body the rest that it needs.

Nevertheless, there are seven days in a week and 24 hours in a day. I can honestly say that much of that time is spent living my life according to my standards.

I keep a positive mindset. This allows me to remain strong and feed my passion for life.

Unlike many others with similar conditions, I consider my health challenge to be one of my many responsibilities of life rather than a constriction. I maintain a healthy lifestyle and follow a regimen that my doctor has prescribed. However, once I have done so, the rest of the day is mine to live as I choose.

I refuse to throw in the towel on life simply because I have been diagnosed with an illness. Instead, I live life to the fullest and know that I deserve success.

Today, I am grateful for all of the wonderful aspects of my life. I have a loving family, a cozy home, and a fun lifestyle. I truly live a fortunate life.

Self-Reflection Questions:

  2. What can I do to boost my confidence?
  3. Do I often dampen my mood by asking “why me?”
